Language supports the ability of a child to communicate, express and understand feelings. It also supports a child’s thinking ability and helps him or her develop and maintain relationships.
Scientific Development
Scientific knowledge allows us to develop new technologies, solve practical problems, and make informed decisions — both individually and collectively.
Cognitive Development
Cognitive development encompasses a child’s working memory, attention as well as a child’s ability to manage and respond to the experiences and information they experience on a daily basis.
AESTHETIC Development
Aesthetic Education is a way of regaining touch with the process of learning something new, of being introduced to a medium never known in a particular way before.

We (at GNMS), constantly strive to create an environment where children are exposed to high quality language in varying forms. We (at GNMS) have four languages in our school i.e. Hindi, English Sanskrit and Punjabi.
One of the most important language is English because it provides information that helps the readers to comprehend. It is the glue that holds English sentences together.
Activities like extempore, debates, speeches, story writing, essay writing, articles, ASL (assessment for speaking and learning) are conducted to encourage vocabulary development and communication skills in students.
We (at GNMS) also organise Public Speaking in morning assembly to enhance their confidence.
ENGLISH DEPARTMENT MESSAGE
English is the language of Science, Aviation, Computers, Diplomacy and Tourism. It is also the language of International Communication, the Media and the Internet. So it is very valuable to learn English as it creates many opportunities.
The English Department of G.N.M.S. always aims to make the students able to think and speak in English accurately. They should be able to compose freely and independently in speech and writing.
We also develop the ability to read, understand and reflect on texts from different perspectives in students.
With all these abilities we believe that students gain insight, develop a sense of understanding and toleration and experience new perspectives.
हिंदी भाषा का शैक्षिक उद्देश्य एवं विकास
भाषा विकास का उद्देश्य भाषा की समझ और अभिव्यक्ति का विकास करना है |
इसी उद्देश्य को प्राप्त करने के लिए ऐसा आत्मीय परिवेश जरूरी हैा जिसमे हर बच्चा अपनी सोच और भावनाओ को बगैर डर एवं संकोच के व्यक्त कर सके | हिंदी हमारी मातृभाषा है,जिसका प्रयोग हम जन्म के बाद से ही जीवनपर्यन्त करते है| मातृभाषा बच्चे के सीखने,समझने एवं ज्ञान प्राप्ति में सहायक है | इसी उद्देश्य को ध्यान में रखकर हम अपनी मातृभाषा के महत्व को सहेज कर रखना चाहते है | मातृभाषा के विकास के हेतु विद्यालय में अनेक ऐसे कार्यक्रम वर्षभर आयोजित किये जाते है | जैसे :
१. पूर्व प्राथमिक स्तर पर शब्दों एवं मात्राओ का ज्ञान कराते हुए कविता एवं कहानी का बच्चो द्वारा सस्वर वाचन करवाना |
२. प्राथमिक स्तर पर कहानी लेखन ,निबंध लेखन ,ज्ञान प्रश्नोत्तरी आदि विविध प्रकार की प्रतियोगिताओ का आयोजन किया जाता है |
३. माध्यमिक एवं उच्चतर माध्यमिक स्तर पर वाद विवाद प्रतियोगिता ,काव्य पाठ ,रचनात्मक कार्यों के माध्यम से हिंदी भाषा के विकास पर बल दिया जाता है |
इसके अतिरिक्त हिंदी दिवस, विश्व हिंदी दिवस, हिंदी पखवाड़ा आदि मेंअनेक कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन करके हिंदी भाषा के विकास को एक सम्माननीय स्थान देने के लिए निरंतर प्रयासरत है |
SCIENTIFIC DEVELOPMENT
We at GNMS are very focused on the scientific development of the students. We try to develop the quality and the habit in the child to think and ask the question…why? Learning to think scientifically is a matter of acquiring problem-solving strategies for coordinating theory and evidence, mastering counterfactual reasoning distinguishing patterns of evidence that do and do not support a definitive conclusion and understanding the logic of experimental design These heuristics and skills are considered important targets for science and for education because they are assumed to be widely applicable and to reflect in child education. In an effective science program, a set of clear goals and expectations for students are used to guide the design, implementation, and assessment of all elements of the science program. We focus on the experiments, projects, and exhibitions related to science. We motivate students for scientific thinking and ask them to understand the reason for all the activities happening during the scientific concepts or any law related to science. We try to make the students learn the concept by experiments or activities.
Eco Club
We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children. “
Eco club in GURU NANAK MODERN SCHOOL empowers students to participate and take up meaningful environmental activities and projects. It is a forum through which students can reach out to influence, engage their parents and neighborhood communities to promote sound environmental behavior. This encourages students to know more about their mother earth and environment, so that they can contribute their best to the nature. This way they will also encourage the society to be serious and responsible for the Mother Earth. To fulfill this aim we conduct many activities and programmes. Our school campus is also flooded with greenery.
Cognitive Development
Cognitive Development is the development of knowledge, skills, problem solving and dispositions, which helps children to think about and understand the world around them. Brain development is a part of cognitive development.
We, at G.N.M.S, are very much focused about students’ attention, short term memory, long term memory, logic & reasoning, auditory processing, visual processing, and processing speed. They are the skills the brain uses to think, learn, read, remember, pay attention, and solve problems.
1. At Pre-Primary Level
Preschoolers are eager to learn how the world works, and the best way for them to learn at this age is through play. The series of activities to help students improve their cognitive skills are:
- Memory matching games like sing along, story telling, puzzles etc. improve visual recognition, concentration, help to memorize and focus.
- Sensorial development activities like sorting, pairing, art and craft activities ( Finger Painting, Thread Painting, Cotton pasting) etc. help to refine five senses and intellect.
- Field trips like visit to places of worship, blue world, parks etc.help to explore new places and real world experiences.
2. At Primary Level
At this level students begin to think hypothetically considering a number of possibilities, and are able to think logically. At GNMS, we provide our students numerous opportunities, so that their developing brains are properly nurtured. The various activities are:
- Art and craft activities like pencil sketching and shading, pencil colour shading etc. which strengthen visual learning, enhance focus, and improve bilateral coordination.
- Memory games like quizzes, story telling, essay writing, extempore, recitation etc. train visual memory, increase short term memory and improve vocabulary.
- Expeditions ( a short journey) to Neelansh Water Park, Japanese Garden, Blue World Trip, a view of historical places etc. embrace their newfound independence, increase confidence and develop problem solving skills.
3. At Secondary Level
This is the stage when cognitive development is broadening and the teen thinks in more futuristic terms. So, to encourage positive and healthy cognitive growth we provide students wide range of activities at GNMS like..
- Brain training exercises games and sports ( chess, basketball, cricket, table tennis, racing..), art and craft activities ( Oil painting, Portrait, Shading with poster colours) etc. They play a critical role in strengthening and maintaining overall brain functions.
- Concentration and Memory games like quizzes, debate competition, extempore, essay writing, role play, Science and Maths Olympiad ,singing and dancing etc. give space to critical thinking and enhances competitive skills among students.
- Excursion and field visits to Neelansh Water Park, Parle G Factory, Police Station,Janeshwar Park, Amrapali Water Park etc. enable to explore, extend and enrich their learning and helps reinforce what has been taught in the classroom.
Aesthetic Education
Aesthetic Education is a way of regaining touch with the process of learning something new, of being introduced to a medium never known in a particular way before. It is the incorporation of the arts across the curriculum in a way that fosters a heightened awareness of and appreciation for all that touches our lives.
Education is not the filling of the pail but lighting of a fire. Guru Nanak Modern School is the place where intellectual, social, emotional, physical, spiritual and aesthetic development of the students are fostered to enhance their quality of life. We provide opportunities to express thoughts, ideas and feeling freely through art, music and drama which not only enable the children to express things creatively but also nurtures the development of other domains of learning . We promote students to discover new ways of looking at, listening to, moving in and speaking of their everyday experiences.
To bring about the holistic development of each child, GNMS gives ample opportunities to students for aesthetic expression through a wide range of experiences. At our school , we settle for student initiated activities that encompass everything possible under the sun. The range of activities offered include :
Art and Craft
Students throng the very premises of the Art Gallery to relish upon the feast of colours and patterns. Inter House and Class activities are a common sight in GNMS. For encouraging children to express their thoughts freely as well as observing the surrounding without obstruction, House Board decoration contest is organised on a regular interval.
Music and Dance
The faculty entrusted with the sublimity of music and dance has always managed to inspire a few souls to produce Musicians and Dancers, lime lighted at every event. Apart from the School activities the students have also held the school flag high at Inter School Events.
Theatrics and Public Speaking
Regular activities like Extempore, Speech, Debate, One act plays etc have added to the grandeur of multi Lingual character of our school. The faculty members of English and Hindi Department remain at their toes to sharpen the oratory and acting skills of the students.
Sports
At GNMS, we cater to specially designed sports programs in Cricket, Football, Basketball, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Kho Kho and many more. We have the best class infrastructure for these sports. Our physical instructors ensure the relevant exercises and yoga for sport specific body development & relaxation of muscles. We have a dedicated arena for Skating and Chess. Not only this, under the supervision of our trainers, we have designed a customized cricket coaching program.
